What patients ask before their first visit.
Most of these come up in the consultation anyway. We put them here so you can read through before you come in, decide what is worth asking in person, and skip what isn’t.
Where is the office?
7 West 45th Street, 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10036. Between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, three blocks from Bryant Park and one block from Rockefeller Center.
What are your hours?
Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM. Evenings and Saturdays by request for established patients.
How do I get there by subway?
B, D, F, M at 47–50 Streets – Rockefeller Center (one block north). B, D, F, M, 7 at 42 Street – Bryant Park (three blocks south). 1, 2, 3, 7, N, Q, R, W, S at Times Square – 42 Street (six-minute walk).
What should I expect at my first visit?
A consultation first. Dr. Koppelman looks, you talk. We want to know what you like about your smile and what you don’t, and we want to hear it before we say anything. Photos, X-rays if needed, and a conversation about what the case is — and what it isn’t.
Do you accept insurance?
The practice is out of network for all insurance. We provide detailed receipts you can submit for out-of-network reimbursement, and our office staff helps verify benefits before treatment. Cosmetic work is rarely covered; the quieter work — cleanings, fillings, root canals — often is.
What does a porcelain veneer cost?
Porcelain veneers are priced per tooth, and most cosmetic cases use six to ten teeth across the smile line. The right way to find out what your case will cost is a consultation — we give a written estimate before any work is scheduled.
What does Invisalign cost?
Invisalign is billed as a single fee for the full case. The number depends on complexity and duration — a limited case (small relapse from old braces, mild crowding of the lower front) is meaningfully less than a complex adult case with significant bite correction. We give a written estimate at the consultation.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. We work with third-party financing for treatment plans that warrant it, and we can structure payments across visits for larger cases. Bring it up at the consultation.
Do you offer sedation?
Nitrous oxide for patients who want it. Oral sedation for longer procedures, on request. The practice is not built around heavy sedation — most of the work does not need it, and a quiet, careful chairside is part of how we do dentistry.
Do you see kids and teens?
We see teens, particularly for Invisalign and orthodontic-readiness consultations. Younger children are better served by a pediatric dentist; we are happy to refer.
Do you do same-day porcelain?
Yes. Single-tooth porcelain crowns and laminates can be designed, milled, and bonded in one visit using CEREC. Best for one or two teeth at a time. Larger cases — full uppers, full smile design — usually do better as lab-fabricated porcelain.
How long do veneers last?
Well-made porcelain veneers, properly maintained, last fifteen to twenty years. They eventually need to be replaced. The tooth underneath stays prepped, so replacement is a smaller intervention than the original placement.
Can I whiten my teeth first and see if veneers are still necessary?
Often the right call. Whitening is the cheapest cosmetic intervention in dentistry and completely reversible. Custom-trayed whitening for two to four weeks brightens most smiles two to four shades. If shade was the only issue, sometimes veneers stop feeling necessary.
What about dental emergencies?
Call the office at 212-382-3782. For after-hours emergencies, leave a message — Dr. Koppelman will return urgent calls. A knocked-out tooth, a broken front tooth, or significant pain should be seen the same day when possible.
